Teaching and learning, Identity and wellbeing

This strand focuses on equity issues around educational institutions and communities, acting at the micro, meso and macro levels of the learning system. It includes exploring issues that affect identity, wellbeing and learning, and understanding the role of key stakeholders, such as learners, parents, teachers, and all those involved in support systems for learners and policy makers.

Some of the research in this strand draws on democratic and humanistic ways of designing for learning (e.g. Universal Design for Learning) as a way of ensuring equal learning opportunities, and enabling students and teachers wellbeing. Another important aspect of projects in this area is to explore effective professional learning and development for those who influence students’ learning, identity and wellbeing.
